Welcome to KFTADR.OS
Hi, I'm Kareem.

From Jordan (the country, not the shoes). I build tools so people don't get stuck the way I did. Double-click around. Mind the cat.

About Me
Kareem
Jordan → California

Hi everyone my name is Kareem! I'm from Jordan (the country—not the shoes, Michael, or Georgia) and moved to Irvine last August to pursue computer science at IVC. I tend to have this bad habit of filling up all my time with a bunch of classes and activities; apparently I love staying busy…

I do try to stay human by doing things like playing volleyball and the piano before throwing it all away by listening to Swedish progressive death metal. When it comes to my diet, my friends think it's concerning. I LOVE red meat in all shapes and sizes, raw or cooked medium rare. It's basically all I eat, although I do dabble in milk fruits and honey to keep a healthy balance.

Growing up in Jordan, there weren't enough available resources to satisfy my curiosity, so I often had to figure a lot of things out on my own. That feeling of being stuck with no sense of direction and nobody to ask is still something I feel today. So to prevent others from getting stuck in the same loops I was raised on, I plan to build tools to make it seem more manageable.

For my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award I spent time in Phnom Penh, Cambodia: helped build a bamboo house for a family, taught kindergarten through second grade at an underprivileged school, and did a 100km cycling expedition over three days. It's one of the things I'm proudest of that has nothing to do with a computer.
My Projects
TransferLens ● DEPLOYED

A platform that untangles California college transfers: 28,000+ course articulations across 45 UC/CSU campuses, a semester planner, and an AI advisor. I built it because I'm a transfer student who was drowning in the same spreadsheets.

OurVoices 🏆 3rd at LaserHacks

Donate your voice so people who've lost theirs — ALS, stroke, cancer — can speak in a human one instead of robotic text-to-speech. Built with ElevenLabs + Claude.

HackCC NONPROFIT

I'm a lead organizer for a nonprofit hackathon for community college students. We've raised $13,000+ in sponsorships, including $10,000 from AWS.

Beyond Limits DATA QUALITY INTERN
Jul – Aug 2025

Annotated and reviewed Large Language Model training data on the HumanSignal platform to ensure quality. Analyzed task metrics like time-on-task and inter-annotator agreement to improve data accuracy, identified platform issues and proposed workflow fixes, and built test cases and Figma mockups to communicate design improvements.

Handshake AI AI EVALUATION SPECIALIST
May 2026 – Present

Part of Handshake AI's fellowship, working with leading AI labs to evaluate LLM outputs and AI-generated images: instruction-following, factuality, visual quality, and spotting AI artifacts. It's rubric-based eval work that feeds back into making the models better.

Research
Student Researcher (May 2026 – Present, in progress)

I'm running an honors research project on the systemic barriers international students hit in the U.S. community college system; the financial, cultural, language, and social ones that quietly stack up. I'm working through the existing scholarship on belonging, integration, and persistence to ground it, and building toward a capstone paper and a longer-term portfolio in higher-education and student-success research. It's personal for me. I'm an international student myself, so a lot of this isn't abstract; I've lived it.

The NERF Dart Drag Coefficient

I challenged a university's published value (0.67) with 390 of my own measurements across 13 launch angles — and found 0.47. A ~4,000-word paper.

AI Usage & Academic Performance

A 61-student study on how AI use affects performance, presented at the IVC–Saddleback Research Symposium.
